LUBRICANTS & OILS

After marijuana legalization in many US states, there has hardly been left any fields of human interaction untouched by cannabis. Sexual life is not an exception. Even before the appearance of cannabis-based lubricants and oils, people used weed consumption to enhance their sexual performance. These days, lubricants and oils with cannabinoids are among the hottest weed products in the industry.

Lubricants & Oils: what they are for

A variety of cannabis products meant for body relaxation and sexual sensations is truly impressive. All of them differ by purpose, ingredients and way of application. Check the main reasons to use lubricants and oils infused with cannabis:

OILS

  • to make massage (including massage of intimate areas);

  • to get relief from menstrual pain (most oils are compatible with tampons);

  • to be used in aroma dispensers as common essential oils;

  • to reduce head and body pain.

LUBRICANTS

  • to eliminate dryness during the sexual intercourse;

  • to prolong the sexual transaction;

  • to promote orgasms;

  • to get brighter physical sensations.

According to the survey, people who regularly used cannabis lubricants, reported the prolonged intercourse duration, improved orgasm quality and increased sexual satisfaction.

How do they work?

Cannabis oil is frequently used for all kinds of massage procedures, though its primary application is for ordinary therapeutic massage. There is a misconception that a massage with cannabinoids will make you high. In reality, you will feel no difference in your head, but there certainly will be the one in your body. As well as other topicals, cannabis massage oil does not get you intoxicated because the cannabinoids never access the blood.

The main goal of using such oils is the overall body relaxation. When this effect is achieved, therapists have a chance to perform stronger manipulations without causing pain to the patient. That is why a massage with cannabis oil becomes more effective.

As for the lubricants, their effect is also connected with relaxational properties of marijuana. It reduces the anxiety level and makes a person more relaxed and self-controlled at the same time. These qualities allow to achieve greater body sensitivity. Moreover, it surely lubricates sensitive area to make the sexual intercourse smoother and more pleasant.

The impact of marijuana on sexuality is not limited to the mentioned effects. There is the anecdotal evidence that proves that cannabis lowers women`s testosterone levels, which makes them more sensitive and sexually appealing.

5 amazing facts about cannabis lubricants

Cannabis lubricants look just like ordinary ones, but their method of action goes deeper than just moistening the body parts. Due to marijuana high biological activity, it makes an influence on the whole body. Read along to learn five amazing facts about the use of cannabis lubricants:

  1. They are not compatible with latex condoms.

    The primary component of any cannabis lubricant is oil. It is a well-known fact that oil makes latex very brittle. You definitely do not want a condom to burst unexpectedly, so it is better to think of other protective methods in advance.

  2. They stimulate natural production of lubricants.

    That means that in addition to lubricating effect that you get with the gel, the body itself produces a lubricant in a more intense manner that before.

  3. They have minimal weed smell.

    It is not too pleasant to smell weed during the sexual intercourse so the manufacturers of lubricating gels try to conceal the smell by using odorants or natural essential oils. Nevertheless, the slight scent will still be present.

  4. They have to be applied in advance.

    To achieve the maximum effect, it is recommended to apply the lubricating gel fifteen minutes before the actual sexual intercourse. The method of use is the same as with ordinary lubricants.

  5. They do not get you head high if there is no oral sex.

    Lubricants are used in a transdermal way. Cannabinoids stimulate blood vessels under the skin and there can be a slight “stoned” feeling, but it is rather local. You will not get a head high the same way as it happens after smoking or vaping marijuana. There is one exception to the rule, though. If oral sex took place after the intercourse, the person might feel the head high since cannabis gets consumed sublingually.

Potential threats of using cannabis lubricants

Cannabis lubricants as commercial products are very profitable for their manufacturers. It is no wonder that these products get widely advertised for their numerous benefits. However, there is also the other side. Check three arguments against using cannabis lubricants:

  1. Non-protected sex. The most traditional way of protection is still using latex condoms. Considering that cannabis lubricants are not compatible with latex are require additional precautions, the level of non-protected sex will definitely grow. The result is obvious: spread of sexually transmitted infections and increased level of undesirable pregnancies.

    How to avoid: to use other protective methods than condoms.

  2. Dangerous contaminants. Marijuana manufacturers frequently use pesticides to increase the yield, weight and potency of their weed harvest. Moreover, the process of lubricate production might also cause the presence of residual solvents or other chemical contaminants that are certainly not good for delicate areas.

    How to avoid: to buy lubricants and oils only from trusted manufacturers or to use DIY topicals.

  3. Absence of adequate research basis. Considering that these products are relatively new to the market, there is no systematic research on their safety and effectivity.

How to make cannabis lubricants and massage oil at home?

A good way to avoid undesirable ingredients is to use DIY recipes for topicals. Having made a cannabis lubricant and the massage oil at home, you can be absolutely sure in the quality of all ingredients and freshness of the product.

Recipe for cannabis lubricant

To prepare a lubricant according to this recipe, be ready to spend about five hours. Even though it`s time-consuming, the result is worth the efforts.

What you need:

  • coconut oil – 8 ounces;

  • cannabis flower – 0.25 ounce;

  • double boiler;

  • cheesecloth;

  • spray bottles.

Instructions:

  1. Decarboxylate cannabis flower. For that purpose, distribute cannabis evenly in a thin layer on the parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 240 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for half an hour.

  2. Warm the oil in a double boiler. Use low temperatures to prevent boiling.

  3. Add decarboxylated cannabis.

  4. Cook for four hours stirring regularly. Long cooking time makes the oil more infused with cannabinoids.

  5. Remove from the heat and let cool.

  6. Use a cheesecloth to strain out the weed.

  7. Pour into spray bottles.

When the lubricant is ready, you can store it in the fridge and use about 1 ml at a time. There are recipes that include essential oils, too, but this is not recommended since the application of rich oils to sensible areas might cause allergic reactions. The provided 2-component recipe is most basic and fully safe to use.

Recipe for massage oil

Using cannabis-infused oil for massage gives the extra sensitivity boost and makes the whole process pain-free and effective.

What you need:

  • grinded cannabis trim – 7 g;

  • coconut oil (or olive oil) - 0.25 cup;

  • bergamot, rosemary and lavender essential oils – 7 drops each;

  • double boiler;

  • cheesecloth;

  • glass bottle.

Instructions:

  1. Add water to the lower side of a double boiler (to make it cover 1/3 of the bowl) and heat to pre-boiling temperatures;

  2. Put coconut oil and cannabis into the top bowl and cook for 3 hours, stirring regularly.

  3. Let cool and strain the oil using a cheesecloth. Do not squeeze a cheesecloth too tightly to avoid getting too much chlorophyll into the oil.

  4. Cool down to a room temperature and add essential oils.

  5. Pour into the glass bottle and leave for a day to become saturated with the scents.
