SNACKS

Why snacks?

Marijuana snacks is the best way to get the maximal effect with minimal effort. Unlike other edibles, cannabis snacks are easy to make and quick to consume, so they become a popular way of satisfying a weed hunger.

Snacks infused with cannabis can be either produced at home or bought in any dispensary. Before selecting any of this options, make sure edibles are legal in your state.

What you need to know about snacks

There are certain rules that regard snacks consumption. Make sure to read through the list before you make a first bite:

  1. Do not expect a quick high.

    As well as with most edibles, cannabinoids from infused snacks need time to be fully digested and metabolized. The effect is felt only after they come to the bloodstream, which happens after a period from 30 minutes to three hours. To evaluate the high properly, wait for a few hours without taking the extra portion.

  2. Consider the dosage.

    If you are a newbie to edibles, start from no more than 5 mg of THC at a time. A study proves that for native users, consuming 5 to 20 mg THC is enough to get the psychoactive effect. Make sure to check the cannabinoid amount every time you take a snack. Despite the visual similarity, cannabis-based snacks are not like ordinary products that can be overconsumed without significant consequences.

  3. Do not mix with alcohol.

    People used to have snacks with light alcoholic drinks. But that is not about cannabis. With edibles, you need to choose between alcohol and marijuana to avoid nausea.

  4. Have a proper meal.

    The term «snack» usually refers to small food portions taken between meals. However, this mode is not recommended if snacks are infused with cannabis. Consuming them on an empty stomach often leads to feeling sick, having stomach pain or nausea. Have a proper meal first and try snacks later.

  5. Stay in a safe place.

    The effects from edibles can be still felt even after 10 hours after consumption. So, do not make any special plans for the day until you know how chosen snacks work with your body.

Best ideas for a snack

The analysis of popular commercial snacks showed that the most widespread and demanded snacks are the following: crackers, chips, fruit slabs, chocolate / honey bars, pretzels, honey / fruit sticks, pastilles, granola and ice cream. Moreover, in the market you can even find ready-made food like burrito or paella infused with cannabis.

How to choose among such a variety? Account for your personal preferences in shape and flavor and always consider the cannabinoid content because that is what cannabis snacks are for. Most popular snacks have either THC or CBD in it. Choose the first if you want to get elevated, and the second for a relaxation and stress reduction. The cannabinoid content is always stated on the package. Note that it usually reveals the total amount per pack so you need to calculate what you get from each piece. To do that, just divide the total amount by the number of pieces.

How to make a firecracker?

Commercial edibles are not always in favor because they contain artificial additives: colorant, preservatives, etc. Those who prefer homemade edibles, will certainly appreciate this easy recipe of a firecracker.

Ingredients:

  • 1 graham cracker;

  • peanut butter (high fat);

  • Nutella;

  • 0.5 g of cannabis.

Process:

  1. Decarboxylate your weed by grinding cannabis, placing it on a parchment paper in a thin layer, and heating it for half an hour at 250-300 degrees Fahrenheit. Let cool.

  2. Divide graham cracker into two square halves.

  3. Mix cannabis with butter and stir well to get even distribution.

  4. Spread one cracker half with butter with cannabis.

  5. Spread another half with Nutella.

  6. Put halves together and use aluminum foil to wrap them.

  7. Bake for twenty minutes.

  8. Let cool.

Snacks: evidence for and against

There are reasons both to support and to oppose taking cannabis snacks. Among the advantages, the most prominent are the therapeutic benefits of marijuana. It is a well-known fact that if used properly, cannabis might fight inflammation, reduce pain and anxiety, and make a person active and joyful. Moreover, investigations prove that oral way of consumption leads to having greater health outcomes than inhalation.

As for disadvantages, most of them are caused by the improper way to consume snacks. Crackers and fruit bars seem safe and thus frequently lead to overdosage cases that result in negative health consequences. In addition to it, they can be mistakenly consumed by children or other unsuspecting people because of their visual attractiveness. This fact caused the governments of four US states reconsider their marijuana laws and make a ban on cannabis edibles appealing for kids.
